December Assembly
Festivities were aplenty as we celebrated our final assembly of 2025. Spirits were high and there was a lot of excitement for the Christmas holidays.
Amongst all the celebrations, we got to show our appreciation to the next batch of students who earned a Core Values certificate. The AR trophy was won by Ms. Keogh's class and we got to see a new set of AR superstars. Ms. Henry awarded her principal's award to two active Gaelgeoirs in the school and Ms Casserly's class were commended for their efforts in Irish too. We had some performances from various classes and left the hall on a good note, wishing the students and their families a very Happy Christmas into the New Year.

Santa Visit
The excitement was at an all time high when we welcomed Santa to our school earlier this morning. Showing up on a very nice motorbike, he greeted the children and help us prepare for Advent by lighting the Christmas tree on the school grounds. There was music, advice from Santa and a great buzz among the children during and after the event.
November Assembly
November came and went in the blink of an eye and we marked its end with another assembly.
Plenty of Core Value awards were handed out to our students. Accelerated Reading was celebrated with a Superstar award for a student in every class. Mr. Tormey's class are this month's winner of the AR Trophy for average time reading per day.
Gaeilge was promoted with awards from Ms Henry, as well as a video presentation by Mr Tormey's class. The students got to hear a rendition of Amhrán na bhFiann, and then joined in for a second attempt at it.
Ms Deane's class showed us that they can say the Hail Mary, not just in English, but in Irish and also... ITALIAN! It was very impressive.
The Christmas is quickly approaching. Here's to a wonderful December!

October Assembly
Our last assembly was part of a very exciting day. It was full of excitement and fun due to our annual Walk around the village, showcasing our Halloween costumes to the locals of Longwood. The children had a ball and were gifted treats on their return.
At the assmebly itself there was plenty to see and cheer on. Mr O Neill's class gave us a rendition of Thriller as Gaeilge and the school choir performed the Monster Mash. The Core Value certificates were handed out and we had our first AR superstars of the year. Ms Cole's and Ms. Deane's classes both won the trophy for "Most Average Time Reading a Day". Special certificates in reading were also given.
Mr O Neill's class was awarded certificates for their use of Irish in school. Two students received individual awards for their use of Irish as well.
Due to the family contributions in raising money for our Halloween Walk, a raffle took place and many students won prizes.
The new Student Council was recognised for the new academic year.
The teachers even took the opportunity to dress up as The Traitors on the day.

The Green School Committee is fast up and running. We are aiming for our Green Flag this year. A lot of work achieved in the opening weeks of this school year. Well done, everyone!

A Communication Board was created to allow us to keep in touch with both of our therapy dogs, Tina and Gooch. Students and teachers are free to leave notes for them in the Comment Boxes. We are so lucky to have them as part of our school community!
